| Michael Angelo began his journey into Salsa music and dance the way many Latino's do, by learning from a close relative..... but when your father is Miguel Mendez, founder of the Dance Academy of Salsa, the technique behind it is a bit more technical than the average "kitchen salsa lessons." Michael Angelo is now one of the most precise, musical, and creative social dancers you will experience on the dance floor. Also a percussionist and DJ, his knowledge of Salsa music and rhythm's enable him to create a powerful learning experience. |

Group Lessons- Level Description and Prerequistes |
Beginner Level 1
Prerequisites- None |
WEDNESDAYS & FRIDAYS @8:15PM
Objective- Learn how to identify and maintain the rhyhtms of Salsa, Mambo and Bachata Music. Learn proper dance floor etiquette. Learn different holding positions, basic step, how to lead/follow the right turn, left turn, cross body lead and more. |
Beginner Level 2
Prerequisites- Students should be able to execute the cross body lead, basic turns and other basic coursework while maintaining the correct rhythm and timing to music. |
Wednesdays & FRIDAYS @7:00PM
Objective- Learn to lead basic turn patterns and strengthen the core fundamental leading and following techniques. |
Intermediate
Prerequisites- Students should be able to execute basic turn patterns with ease and precision utilizing Beginner Level 1 & 2 coursework. Students must be able to find and maintain the correct rhythm & timing quickly, without hesitation.

TUESDAYS @7:00PM & Saturdays @1:00PM
Intermediate Objective- Expand your repertoire by learning to lead/follow intermediate level turn patterns and shines (Freestyle styling and footwork combinations). Ladies will also learn prep and spin technique at this level. Body Isolation techniques are also taught at this level. |
Advanced
Prerequisites- Students should be able to execute a solid library worth of Intermediate level material with ease and precision not only in class, but in a social setting. Yes, we have group outings. |
MONDAYS @ 7:00PM
Advanced Objective- Anything goes in this class. From Advanced level turn patterns to Shines, Styling, Body Isolations, & more. No walk-ins allowed. Evaluation placement only. |
Dance Company Training Program
Advanced Level Students who demonstrate exceptional social dancing skills will be eligible to participate in the Dance Academy of Salsa's- Dance Company Training Program, where you will learn actual full length routines to prepare you for a Professional Dance Company Choreography. |
