COVID19 BUSINESS UPDATE
Due to the Illinois Tier 3 restrictions on indoor group gatherings, group classes are suspended until further notice. You may however still purchase lessons for use at our NEW location, opening January 2021. We are in the process of relocating to the historic Logan Square neighborhood. The new location will feature plenty of free street parking and extremely easy access to all major public transportation. Stay tuned for details and grand opening specials!
These are trying times for many of us, and we are no exception. If you are able, please consider a donation to help protect our beloved studio, so we can have a fighting chance to keep the business running for years to come.

Frequently asked questions
How long will it take me to learn to dance Salsa, Bachata, Merengue or Cha Cha Cha?
We get this question often, but in reality, we can only answer this question after your first class. If your first class goes well, you will probably learn at a steady pace. If you struggle through your first class, it will take longer to learn. We have all the patience to teach. Questions is: Do you have patience with yourself to learn?
What if I don’t have a dance partner?
Not a problem! Having a dance partner is recommended but not needed. When partner dancing, all students meet, rotate and practice with one another as well as with the Instructor.
How do I progress in your beginner drop in classes if you always have new students dropping in?
What’s the difference between 4 week courses and drop in classes?
What style of salsa do you teach?
All of our Salsa group lessons are taught On2 because of the syncopation with the music and the rhythm of the Tumbao. The connection between the dance and the rhythm of the Tumbao is explained in class and a very important part of your Salsa learning process. Private lessons can be taught On1 or On2 per your request.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover & Debit cards.
What should I wear for class?
We recommend that you come in with fresh, clean clothes that are comfortable and do not restrict movement. Always wear deodorant and avoid heavy perfumes that can suffocate your partners. Avoid shoes or sneakers with rubber soles, instead opt for shoes with smooth bottoms that will allow easy turning. Feel free to bring in an extra pair of shoes to switch out and see what's most comfortable. In acclimate weather, be sure to leave your wet, muddy or snow covered shoes in the carpeted area and bring an extra pair of dry indoor or dance shoes for class. Don't forgeet your breath mints and lastly, come to class with a good attitude and be ready to have fun!
I've danced salsa before. What level of classes should I attend?
If it is your first time attending a class at the Dance Academy of Salsa, we recommend that you drop into our level 1 class first. The instructor will be able to dance with you and identify if you are ready to attend the higher level classes. Keep in mind our classes are on 2 and there is a range of moves that you need to know in order to progress onto the next level.
What covid-19 safety precautions are you taking?
The safety of our students and instructors remains our top priority. We ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of class with your mask on and use hand sanitizer upon arrival. We will be doing temperature checks and sanitizing the benches and common touch points in between classes. Please stay home if you are feeling unwell or have had contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Thank you for your efforts in helping to keep DAofS a safe and comfortable place for everyone!
